The sound box resembles a moon, which is why it is called Nguyet.
It was created towards the eleventh century. It is characterised by a pure and strong sound, as well as for its great capacity to express different emotional states.
It is divided into ten frets in the pentatonic scale. Seven are located on the neck while the other three are located on the sound box. The two strings are tuned in fifths (F-C1, G-D1) or in fourths (G-C, D-G). Its register covers more than two octaves.
